SIGNS OF SPRING In Alma, Wisconsin
Red-winged blackbirds, fishing boats everywhere, goslings on the river ... all are great Signs of Spring in Alma, Wisconsin and the local area. Can you think of others?  It was a warm winter and a warm spring and everything is ahead of schedule.  Bald eagles have nested and are raising their young.  There are lots of nature viewing opportunities, so step out your door and enjoy the season.

BIRDING BY PADDLE
Summer of Paddling Event

Our fist birding by paddle event was a great success. Canoes & kayaks traveled from Brekow's Landing up Beef Slough and through the backwaters of the Upper Mississippi River and back. Participants were aged 80 to 15 and everyone had a great time!

Many thanks to Ed Lagace of USFWS & the 2012 Summer of Paddling Program and Ericka Overgard of Riverland Outfitters.

BALD EAGLES
Where are the Bald Eagles?

Bald Eagles can be seen flying overhead but are primarily tending their nests.  A warm winter and early spring brought early nesting and most of our Bald Eagles are busy with their eaglets.  Please enjoy the "live" feed below of nesting Bald Eagles from Raptor Resource Project.

Bald Eagle Cam in Decorah, Iowa, sponsored by the Raptor Resource Project.
Two eaglets hatched this week, a third should hatch any day.
